Cookies and browser storage
Last updated 17 October 2026
1. In plain words
RunSlide stores a few small pieces of information in your browser. Without them you could not sign in or use the site safely. We do not use cookies or similar storage for advertising, for following you across other sites, or to measure how you use the site.
2. Why there is no cookie banner
The law that governs this (the ePrivacy rules, for example Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC as amended) asks for your consent before a site stores or reads information on your device, except where the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for. Everything we store is of that kind: it keeps you signed in, protects the sign-in form, or remembers a choice you made on screen. If we ever add something that is not necessary, such as analytics that runs in your browser, we will ask you first and update this page.
3. What is stored
This list comes from a test: we loaded every public page, and the pages you see after signing in, in a real browser, and wrote down everything that was stored and every other site the browser asked. We repeat the test when we change the site, and the list changes with it.
| Name | Set by | What it is for | How long | Needed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token (shown as __Secure-better-auth.session_token on https) | RunSlide | Keeps you signed in. | 7 days. It is renewed while you keep using the site, and removed when you sign out. | Yes |
| better-auth.state (shown as __Secure-better-auth.state on https) | RunSlide | Completes the Google sign-in safely: it ties your return from Google to the sign-in you started. | 5 minutes. | Yes |
| rs_project | RunSlide | Remembers which Project you chose in the top bar. | 1 year. | Yes |
| rs_shell_<userId> | RunSlide | Remembers whether the side bar is wide or narrow. The name ends with your account id, so each person on a shared computer keeps their own choice. | 1 year. | Yes |
| rs_steps_open (local storage) | RunSlide | Remembers which Boards you opened the step bar on again after finishing all six steps. It holds Board ids only. | Until you clear your browser data. | Yes |
| Cloudflare check (challenges.cloudflare.com) | Cloudflare | The check that tells people from bots on the password sign-in form. That form is for a few review accounts; Google sign-in does not use it. | Set by Cloudflare, not by us. | Yes |
Some of these appear only after you make the choice they remember, such as choosing a Project or making the side bar narrow. Cookies set by other sites when you leave ours are not covered here. If you pay, you leave to Stripe's page, which has its own policy. If you connect TikTok, you leave to TikTok's page.
When you open a Board, your browser asks fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com for the typefaces of the slide pictures, so Google receives your network address with that request. We store nothing from it on your device.
We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels, analytics cookies, session replay or embedded videos from other sites.
4. Your choices
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie you cannot stay signed in. Clearing site data signs you out and forgets your choices.
We do not measure how the site is used in your browser today. If we start, we will ask first, and you can say no and still use everything.
5. Changes
When this page changes, the date above changes. If we add storage that needs your consent, a banner will appear before it is used.
